About Sean

Sean Graham is a Michigan-registered CPA, real estate investor and the founder of Maven Cost Segregation: Tax Advisors. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Eastern Michigan University. Sean began his career in public accounting, tax and finance before moving into roles at a large publicly traded company and a private-equity-backed business. While building that career, he began investing in small multifamily properties through house hacking and developed a portfolio of residential rentals. He later expanded into self-storage acquisition, syndication, development and operations through Maven Equities and Maven Storage. That combination of accounting experience and first-hand property ownership led Sean to establish Maven Cost Segregation. His work focuses on cost segregation, depreciation strategy, placed-in-service planning, bonus depreciation and retroactive Form 3115 opportunities across self-storage, multifamily, residential, retail, industrial and other commercial properties.

Sean's Role in Each Study

Sean leads Maven's CPA and tax-strategy review. Maven's engineering team performs the property inspection, component documentation, cost analysis and engineering classifications. Sean personally consults with clients to evaluate how the resulting depreciation schedules fit their tax circumstances, including placed-in-service timing, bonus-depreciation eligibility, Form 3115 look-back opportunities, short-term-rental and real-estate-professional considerations, and coordination with the client's tax preparer.

Sean oversees the tax-strategy and compliance side of the engagement; the engineering team remains responsible for the underlying engineering analysis. Maven does not replace the client's tax-return preparer.

Let's talk about your tax strategy.
